Description

French-born American professor, soldier, cartographer, and writer (1825-1896) who served as a Confederate officer during the Civil War, and led troops for the Khedive of Egypt, Isma'il Pasha, in the 1870s. DS, signed “R. E. Colston,” one page, 2 x 1, 1871. Tiny bond coupon from the North Carolina Military and Polytechnic Academy, in part: "Will pay on the first day of July, 1871, one dollar and fifty cents." In fine condition.
