Confederate general (1824-1894) who commanded a brigade under Hill at Antietam, and at Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, and Petersburg. Colquitt also served as a US Senator from Georgia, and was the 49th governor of the state. Partly-printed DS, signed “A. H. Colquitt,” one page, 7.5 x 4.5, May 7, 1874. Southern Life Insurance Company receipt for a payment of $30.40 of premium on a policy. Signed at the conclusion by Colquitt as an executive of the company's Atlanta division. In fine condition.
