With the best crop of hay we ever had on Long Island, our poor short handed farmers are having a terrible struggle with St. Swithin, with the odds in favor of the Saint. But why keep on calling him a Saint?? Habits these days count for nothing any more. Please convey my best respects to Mrs. Sprague." Another hand has added a date of July 23, 1919 to the upper right.
