Description

American diplomat during the American Revolutionary War (1740-1792) who helped negotiate the Treaty of Alliance with France in 1778. Partly-printed DS, signed “Arthur Lee,” one page, 8 x 12.75, November 19, 1787. Official pay order issued to "Nathaniel Appleton, Esquire, Receiver of Continental Taxes for the state of Massachusetts," in part: "At sight pay to Michael Hillega, Esquire, Treasurer of the United States, or order, for the use of said States, the Sum of Three thousand five hundred Dollars." Signed at the conclusion by Samuel Osgood and Arthur Lee. In very good to fine condition, with scattered light foxing, and minor paper loss at fold intersections.
