Description

TLS, one page, 6 x 8, United States Senate letterhead, June 16, 1965. Letter to Ken Browne, in part: "My belated thanks for your letter of April 23 and for your thoughtfulness in sending me the newspaper clippings on the Mount Kennedy climb." In fine condition, with a light crease to the left side. A year after President John F. Kennedy's assassination, the Canadian government named a peak in the Yukon's Kluane National Park in his honor. Its first ascent was undertaken in 1965 by Robert F. Kennedy and a team of experienced mountaineers, and upon reaching the summit he left behind some of his brother's PT boat tie clips, a copy of his inaugural address, and a JFK medallion.
