French dramatist and librettist (1791-1861) who is known for the perfection of the so-called 'well-made play' and as the librettist of many of the most successful grand operas; he collaborated with luminaries such as Giacomo Meyerbeer, Giuseppe Verdi, Vincenzo Bellini, Daniel Auber, and Gaetano Donizetti. Group of seven ALSs in French, signed "E. Scribe” and “Eugene Scribe,” nine total pages, each approximately 5 x 8, dated between the 1830s and 1840s. These untranslated, beautifully worded letters are addressed to various admirers, as well as one to the Italian composer Gaetano Donizetti. In overall very good to fine condition.
