American jazz tenor saxophonist (1904-1969), nicknamed 'Hawk' and occasionally 'Bean,' who was strongly associated with the swing music and big band era, and played a role in the development of bebop in the 1940s. Sought-after DS, three pages, 8.5 x 11, December 1, 1962. Contract between Columbia Records and Coleman Hawkins in which the latter agrees to render his services "with Clark Terry at a recording session, or sessions…on such dates during December 1962" and record a "Minimum of six compositions." Signed at the conclusion in blue ink by Hawkins, who adds his social security number below. In very good to fine condition, with scattered light creasing, and intersecting folds.
