Clergyman (1762-1864) who entered the Continental Army at age 16 and was one of just seven Revolutionary War veterans who survived into the age of photography. He was named Chaplain of the House of Representatives at age 94. ALS signed "Daniel Waldo, In 99th year," one page, 5 x 7.5, April 18, 1861. In full: "I cannot refuse a kind word to the Petitioner for my autograph. I hope the young men of our noble nation will, not only have a copy of distinguished names; but far excel them in patriotism, usefulness & wisdom." In very good to fine condition, with some light stains to the top and a tear to the left edge, and uniform adhesive residue to the reverse.
