Two telegrams from Paul McCartney to Brad Delp: one on Western Union Mailgram letterhead, signed in type, "Paul and Linda McCartney," June 11, 1979, in full: "Happy birthday and best wishes"; and a "Greetings Telegram" card, signed in type, "Paul and Linda McCartney," no date, in part: "Greetings, Paul Ahern c/o Paul Ahern to Brad Delp, the Montcalm Hotel…We are in Rye which is three hours drive if we don't make it to see you play have a good one cheers," matted and framed to an overall size of 12 x 16. In overall very good to fine condition, with creasing to the Mailgram and some staining to edges of the top half of the greeting card. Paul Ahern was Boston's manager in the 1970s. Of the first telegram, Micki Delp notes: 'Brad used to say he could only remember his own birthday because it was 7 days before Paul’s. Brad sent Paul a telegram every year on his birthday since 1965, even after Boston hit it big. He never received anything back... never knowing if Paul ever even got them. He sent one every year anyway. In 1980 when he told me this story and asked if I could help him find out where to send it that year, his manager and I got in touch with Paul and told him the story... so Paul sent him this one first on the 12th when Brad and I were staying staying at Barry’s house right after coming off tour.' The handwriting on the telegram is Micki’s, recording the info on how to respond. From the Brad Delp Collection, and accompanied by a letter of provenance from Micki Delp.
