Controversial American politician and military officer (1819-1914) who lost his leg in a famous incident at the Battle of Gettysburg. Scarce original 2.25 x 4 carte-de-visite portrait of Sickles in a head-and-shoulders pose wearing his military uniform, signed in the lower border in black ink, "Maj. Gen. D. E. Sickles, U.S. Army." Published by Sarony of New York. In fine condition.
