Description

Three months into his presidency, Ford writes a letter to an "old Michigamua Brave"

TLS as president signed “Jerry Ford,” one page, 6.75 x 8.75, White House letterhead, November 13, 1974. Letter to Capital University Dean Richard L. Pinkerton, whom Ford refers to as "Pump'um Paw," in full: "As one old Michigamua Brave to another, it is great to hear from you and have your good wishes. I'll do my best. Don't look for me at the game on November 23 because I have to be in Japan at that time. My thoughts will be with our team, particularly after what happened last Saturday. Betty is making a remarkable recovery. She will be taking it a bit easy for some time, but we are deeply grateful for the splendid progress. We truly appreciated your concern and interest in our welfare. With warmest personal regards." In very good to fine condition, with a light shade of overall toning, except at the corners. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, as well as a letter from Pinkerton explaining the origin of the exclusive University of Michigan Michigamua club, which references Ford's tribal name of "Flipp'um Back."
