Description

"I stopped reading poetry because I can’t find any good poets"

ALS on a 3.25 x 5.5 postal card, one page, no date but circa 1955. Letter to his friend Sheridan Van Dolah, in full, “'The Smile' will follow soon—just out at moment. Mailed you the ‘Cosmological Eye.’ If I ever get the others I’ll let you know. Yes, I did leaf thru your collection and found them good. I stopped reading poetry because I can’t find any good poets among contemporaries. Anyway, I read almost nothing but French lit. nowadays. Best to you—and thank you!” Reverse addressed in Miller's own hand, incorporating his signature in the upper left. In fine condition, with a small spot to bottom of postcard. Accompanied by Van Dolah’s letter of response and a letter from Miller’s wife, dated October 15, 1955.
