African-American activist and co-founder of the Black Panther Party (1942–1989) who was shot and killed in Oakland by a member of the Black Guerilla Family. Two items: a very rare glossy 8 x 10 photo of Newton, signed on the reverse in blue ballpoint, "All Power to the People, Huey P. Newton"; and a TLS, one page, Black Panther Party letterhead, May 3, 1973, transmitting the signed photograph. Reverse of the photo also bears a Blank Panther Party photo credit stamp, complete with address and signature of the photographer. In overall very good to fine condition, with light rippling along the edges of the photo, and scattered staining on its reverse. Signed photos of Newton are extremely uncommon. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
