Hamilton, in part: “Had the idea to wh: yr lettered referred, been pursued to a successful end, it only wd have been accompanied your arrangement, wh: wd have secured for you a Privy Councillor Appointment second only to those of the Cabinet, & one, wh: has sometimes found a seat in it. This wd only have been a due recognition of the great talents, the high character, the varied information, & the undeviating fidelity, with wh: you have aided, encouraged, & contributed to establish in power the Conservative Party.” In fine condition.
