Cosmonaut Film Canisters

Uncommon collection of seven flown film canisters related to the Russian space program and the Mir space station. First, a pair of flown Russian light protective transporting canisters used for the delivery and protection of film brought to and from the Mir space station. The first, #KAP-350-N13, measures 8.25″ high with a diameter of 5.5″, and the second, #39, measures 3.5″ high with a diameter of 4″. Next, a large flown film canister used aboard the Russian space station Mir between 1988 and 1992 during several Soyuz missions, measuring 3.5″ tall and 7″ in diameter, bearing an affixed Cyrillic label on the cover identifying it with designations “42,” “6,” “840,” and “MKF-6MA.” The cover is held on by a black bolt in the center and contains the metal reel inside. Lastly, four flown film canisters carried on the Soyuz TM-3 mission, each measuring 2.75″ long and 1″ in diameter, all wrapped in tape with typed and handwritten identification notations in Cyrillic. Scattered dings, wear, and soiling from expected use, otherwise overall fine condition. Each item is accompanied by either a certificate or full letter of authenticity in Cyrillic from the Federal Scientific-Research Centers (Nature, Industrial, and Production).
