Two ALSs, both signed “Linda,” both one page, both sides, 6.75 x 10.5 and 5.25 x 4, personal letterhead and stationery, July 8, 1953, and January 25, 1957. Both letters are to painter and illustrator Stanley Woodward. The first, in part: “The film is rugged going! We are all disorganized, and the temperament flying ‘round is driving me batty! Photographically it’s gorgeous, Roman streets at night, the ruins specially lighted, etc., but the scenes aren’t up to snuff at all!…Happy to hear of the lady falling in love with your painting—can’t blame her! I must have one of your large ones, Stanley—please save me one of your favorites!”; the second, in part: “Please forgive me for not thanking you sooner for your exquisite new book and also the lovely N. M. watercolor. Next month sometime I’m getting married to my pilot, ‘Robby’ Robertson—We are all very happy and excited.” Both letters are accompanied by their original mailing envelopes, addressed by Darnell in her own hand. In overall fine condition, with a few stains to the 1953 letter. The movie Darnell is likely referring to is Giuseppe Amato’s 1954 film Angels of Darkness. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
