Description

George Cukor

TLS signed “George,” one onionskin page, 8.5 x 11, November 7, 1956. Letter to Tony Award-winning composer Cole Porter, in full: “Here is a part of a letter I received from Mrs. Morehouse about Marie Doro: ‘Only two or three weeks before her sudden death she told me, with great excitement in her voice, of a letter she had received from you that contained high praise for her song, ‘Do I Make It Clear?’. It was sweet of you to write her as you did, and to quote Cole Porter, and it made her very happy. During the past year she found great joy in music.’ I hope you’ll overlook my having stretched the truth when I reported your reaction to Marie’s song. It was all in a good cause. I was ebloui by your apartment! It’s the most beautiful place I ever did see. It couldn’t happen to a nicer fella.” In fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
