Description

Ole Bull

Norwegian violinist (1810–1880) often called Norway’s first international star. ALS, one page both sides, 7.5 x 9.5, May 10, 1872. Letter to a friend, in part: “I am sorry to find that I have delayed the official answer to the…norse Bibliothek–Concert so long on account of hard travel and the very-day Concert unavoidable train of nerve and time. Add to that, a new inexperienced pianist to accompagne my pieces, every moment expecting a upset, or a catastrophe. This Concert will, of course, be the last…in the United States, and I think it would be in the interest of the Fund that people should know it.” Framed with a window on the reverse for viewing the opposite side to an overall size of 8 x 10. In very good condition, with intersecting folds (passing through the forename), a repaired lower right corner tip (with the end of the paraph filled in by an unknown hand), a strip of mounting remnants to front page, scattered soiling, and slight show-through from writing to opposing sides. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
