LS signed “Very respectfully yrs, Thomas Francis Meagher, Brigadier General Commanding,” one page, lightly-lined, 8 x 5.5, April 27, 1863. Letter to Assistant Adjutant General Major John Hancock, written from the headquarters of the Irish Brigade in Falmouth, Virginia. In full: “I have the honor to report, that I resume command of the Brigade this morning.” In fine condition, with show-through from mounting remnants to reverse. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
