Civil War–dated AQS on an off-white 5 x 7 sheet, signed “Wendell Phillips, New Bedford, March 18, 1863.” Phillips pens a quote concerning John Brown. In full: “Count that day lost whose low descending sun sees at thy hand no worthy action done. These lines John Brown taught to each of his children.” In fine condition, with toning to left edge.
