“I hope that you will start turning out graduates who really know how to shoot”

Army officer (1896–1970) who headed the Manhattan Project and oversaw the construction of the Pentagon. TLS signed “L. R. Groves,” one page, 8 x 10, War Department letterhead, August 16, 1946. Letter to Major General Maxwell D. Taylor regarding West Point. In part: “I was quite impressed with the summer camp facilities and the extensive ranges and training areas that have recently become available to the cadets. I hope that you will start turning out graduates who really know how to shoot.” In fine condition, with filing holes to the top and various original office notations. RR Auction COA.
