TLS signed “Wm. H. Taft,” one page, 7 x 8.75, White House letterhead, December 6, 1910. Letter to Charles F. Stokes, surgeon general of the Navy. In full: “In accordance with the provisions of section 5 of the Act of Congress to incorporate the American National Red Cross, I hereby appoint Surgeon-General Charles F. Stokes, U. S. Navy, a member of the Central Committee of the American National Red Cross to represent the Navy Department on said committee.” Moderate toning to corners and a lighter area to the bottom portion, otherwise fine condition.
