Personal friend of Lincoln who served with him in the Illinois state legislature (1811–1876). Unsigned original 2.25 x 4 carte-de-visite three-quarter-length portrait of Dubois, by A. Hesler of Chicago. Reverse bears a two-cent revenue stamp, stamp-dated September 21, 1864. In fine condition, with mild silvering to dark areas of the image and a few pencil notations to the reverse.
