Politician (1823–1878) most notable for being the ‘boss’ of Tammany Hall, the Democratic Party political machine that played a major role in the politics of 19th century New York. DS, signed “W. M. Tweed,” one page, 8 x 10.5, January 30, 1869. Receipt for payment of $254 to W. C. Rogers & Company for “Stationery & Blank Books,” signed at the bottom by Tweed as deputy street commissioner.
