Polish pianist, composer, and politician (1860–1941) whose abounding talent and personal magnetism made him one of the most popular virtuosi of all time. Original 4.25 x 6 cabinet photo by Krzynowek of Vienna, inscribed at the top and bottom of the image with a French sentiment in black ink, and signed, “I. J. Paderewski,” below a three-bar AMQS from ‘Thème varié,’ the third movement from his work entitled Miscellanea, Op. 16. Ink notation on reverse dates the photo to January 31, 1889. In very good condition, with some irregular ink adhesion to signature and quote, and trimmed top and bottom edges. A truly exceptional piece from the polymath composer. RR Auction COA.
