Vintage matte-finish 7 x 9.5 photo of the Trumans waving from the steps of an airplane, bearing the calligraphic notation “Christmas 1946,” signed in fountain pen as President and First Lady “Harry S. Truman” and “Bess W. Truman.” Housed in the original presentation folder measuring 10.75 x 14. In very good condition, with a few light ripples (evidently from glue to reverse), a touch of mild scattered soiling to image, moderate silvering to the darker areas, and soiling and staining to folder. The White House ordered 1,000 copies of this photo, and on December 23, 1946, Truman presented 575 of his White House employees with a signed example.
