William Makepeace Thackeray

Well-regarded British novelist (1811–1863) of such satirical classics as Vanity Fair. ALS signed “W. M. Thackeray,” one page, 5 x 7, no date. Letter to an unidentified gentleman. In full: “I am engaged tomorrow evening & I should have had very much pleasure in dining with you. Next week I shall be here the whole week; may I hope that one day you will do me the kindness to ask me again?” Letter is affixed to an identical size sheet. Central horizontal and vertical fold, one through a single letter of signature, and some mild toning, otherwise fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
