President Van Buren approves an 1837 appointment of a pension commissioner

DS as president signed “M. Van Buren,” one page, 8 x 9.5, August 8, 1837. Van Buren makes a civil appointment. In full: “During the absence of the Commissioner of Pensions from the Seat of government, George W. Crump is hereby appointed to discharge the duties of that office.” Matted with a three-quarter colorized portrait and elaborately framed to an overall size of 21 x 15.25. Some light creasing, wrinkling, and toning, otherwise fine condition. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
