Tyler and his secretary of state appoint a Deputy Postmaster

Partly-printed DS as president, one page, 15.5 x 9.5, July 2, 1844. President Tyler appoints Hezekiah W. Scovell to the position of Deputy Postmaster of Lockport, New York. Signed at the conclusion by Tyler and countersigned by Secretary of State John C. Calhoun. In very good condition, with moderate intersecting folds, one through a single letter of Calhoun’s signature, a few small holes or separations along folds, and scattered light creasing and wrinkling. The white seal is intact and slightly toned. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
