Thirteen items: seven ALSs from Mrs. Eisenhower, from 1952 to 1974 (one 1955 letter on White House stationery) sending thanks to the recipients. One reads in part: “Your note came some time ago and since then General Eisenhower has written you. He is so occupied with mail and busy writing on his book which he hopes to have finished soon. We have enjoyed our stay here but miss the grandchildren.”; and six TLSs, from 1952 to 1975 (three on White House stationery). One reads in part: “The manager of our Gettysburg farm tells me that the Rotary Lawn Mower that you sent the President has been received. I understand it is a fine and useful implement. I had an opportunity to tell the President of its arrival this morning, and I know he was delighted.” All signed either “Mamie,” “Mamie Eisenhower,” or “Mamie Doud Eisenhower” with one TLS carrying a brief postscript. In overall fine condition. Accompanied by two original mailing envelopes. An interesting and personal archive reflecting the respect and admiration so many people held for the first lady, with several White House examples. RRAuction COA.
