Description

“I send … a general letter, and would give a special one to Mr. Peabody were he there, but do not feel at liberty to give one to any other person”

ALS, one page both sides, 5 x 8, January 27, 1857. Letter to J. F. Williams. In part: “I send, as desired, a general letter, and would give a special one to Mr. Peabody were he there, but do not feel at liberty to give one to any other person. Should occasion…require, this may be shown to his partner Mr. Morgan, or to Mr. Bates of the house of Barring Brothers & Co. I fear you will have a very uncomfortable voyage at this inclement season, but I hope it may be a safe one.” In very good condition, with two vertical folds through two letters of signature, with partial separations to bottom ends of both folds, a diagonal crease, light uniform toning, and a small hole to top edge. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
