Extremely rare American Security & Trust Company personal check, 5.75 x 2.5, filled out in type and boldly signed by Eisenhower, payable to Annie M. Warner Hospital for $300.00, April 27, 1961. Archivally double cloth matted with a presidential likeness and framed to an overall size of 13.5 x 19.75. In fine condition, with expected cancellation stamp touching first two letters of his name and show-through from stamps and an endorsement on the reverse. “Donation” is typed along the top edge of the document. The Annie M. Warner Hospital, located in Gettysburg, celebrated its 40th anniversary in 1961. That event prompted Ike, who retired to Gettysburg upon leaving the White House, to send this contribution. Eisenhower checks are virtually non-existent in the hobby, with this example being the first one we have offered. Only three others have been offered at auction in the past 30 years, with the last example selling for $9,500 in 2005. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
