Description

Dual signatures of America’s third and fourth chief executives

Partly-printed partial self-contained DS signed “Th: Jefferson” as president and “James Madison” as secretary of state, one page, 10.75 x 8, July 30, 1801. the bottom portion of a larger document, apparently a land grant, with part of the top portion of the document affixed, and a sketch of the tracts of land on the reverse. In fair condition, with heavy staining and moderate wrinkling, vertical folds, and show-through from sketch on reverse. The white paper seal is intact and fairly crisp. Although Jefferson’s and Madison’s signatures are affected by the flaws, they remain fairly legible. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
