Short-lived but highly influential English/American rock band best known for the uniquely virtuosic guitar work of frontman Jimi Hendrix (1942–1970). Though initially conceived in 1966 as Hendrix’s backing band, The Experience soon became one of the first groups to popularize the “power trio” format of bass, guitar and drums. With fellow Experience members Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell, Hendrix recorded his three most successful albums: Are You Experienced, Axis: Bold as Love, and Electric Ladyland. By April 1969, Hendrix had decided to break up the group as a result of deteriorating relations with Redding and his wish to expand his musical horizons. The group held together long enough to fulfill their existing engagements, culminating in the Denver Pop Festival on June 29. Vintage ballpoint signature, “Love, Jimi Hendrix,” “Noel Redding xxx,” and “Mitch xx,” on a light pink 5.5 x 4 album page. Page is still contained in its original 5.75 x 4.5 autograph album. In fine condition. One of rock and roll’s most coveted signatures. Pre-certified Roger Epperson/REAL and RRAuction COA.
