Three TLSs, one signed in full, the other two signed “Gwen Brooks,” one from 1961 and two from 1967, ranging in size from 5 x 4 up to 8.5 x 11. One letter from 1967 reads, in part: “I am permitted to review Memmi’s important new book. The day Van called me, I had just typed out a note to Carey McWilliams of The Nation, expressing the hope I could ‘talk about’ the trio.
