Description

A unique and playful combination: Edison signs with his left hand then adds a microscopic Lord’s Prayer

One-of-a-kind microscopic AQS on an off-white 6.5 x 4.5 sheet. Edison pens the first line of the Lord’s Prayer in purple pencil, “Our father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.” Above the quote, again in purple pencil, Edison has signed with his left hand: “Thomas A. Edison.” Collector’s notation along bottom reads, “T. A. Edison signature with left hand and microscopic writing.” A mild shade of toning along the right edge, light staining under quote, and light edge creasing, otherwise fine condition.

Edison, probably the most experienced note-taker in the world, learned to write very small as a telegraph operator, allowing him to more quickly transcribe newspaper copy, and is obviously showing his skills here…along with a clumsy attempt at using his southpaw. A unique handwriting “experiment” by one of the world’s most important inventors. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
