Endearing vintage matte-finish 8 x 10 photo of a young Garland posing outdoors in an overcoat and hat, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “For Grant, Sincerely, Judy Garland.” Triple cloth matted and framed to an overall size of 13.5 x 16. In fine condition, with moderately poor contrast to Garland’s last name.
While this rarely seen photo dates to circa 1939—around the time of Garland’s most famous role: Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz—the signature shows traits of Garland’s autograph circa 1941. Within this time, she also appeared in a number of other films, including Andy Hardy Meets Debutante, Little Nellie Kelly, and For Me and My Gal, a 1941 production in which Garland received top billing above the credits and marked her move from teenage starlet to adult star. A scarce image that captures the fresh-faced enthusiasm of the famous actress. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
