Vintage matte-finish 13.5 x 16.5 photo of the early stages of Mount Rushmore, with Washignton’s face partly done, and Jefferson’s image underway, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “Hon Ralph Buld, Mount Rushmore National Memorial. Yours sincerely, Gutzon Borglum 1932.” Pencil notation on the reverse reads, “In 1932, Dad, Mother, Betty and I went to Mt. Rushmore in the private car—Dad had Mr. Borglum & his son (Lincoln) in the car for dinner—It was a delightful time.” In very good to fine condition, with scattered light soiling and surface marks, a few light surface creases, with a heavier vertical crease to lower right.
