Description

Signed photo of the ‘Cinderella Man’

American boxer (1905–1974) who was heavyweight champion of the world from 1935 to 1937 and whose career was dramatized in the Oscar-nominated 2005 film Cinderella Man. Vintage glossy 8 x 10 full-length photo of Braddock in his boxing trunks, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “To Joe DeBartolo, Best wishes, James J. Braddock.” Matted and framed with an original $27.50 onsite full used upper box ticket to the June 22, 1937 fight between Braddock and Joe Louis at Comisky Park (Braddock was knocked out in the eighth round, the only knockout of his career), to an overall size of 12.25 x 17. A few scattered light creases, a light brush to first name of signature, as well as a bit of irregular ink adhesion, otherwise fine condition. Terrific pose bearing a bold signature. Pre-certified Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
