Description

Byron pens his name with an emphatic flair

No mere patron of the Romantic Movement was George Gordon Byron (1788-1824)—to be sure, he was a leader. This poet was more wordsmith than even the most “enlightened” of his essayist contemporaries, and, too, his poetic works remain among the most influential of all 19th Century literary pieces. Here offered is an impressive example of Lord Byron’s rare signature. Penned along a 1.5 x 7.5 slip, the subject wrote “Byron” with an emphatic flair. Though portions of his graceful penmanship have faded slightly, the signature projects nicely against its off-white medium. Set above the signature is a portrait engraving of Lord Byron himself, and both the signature and image are matted and framed to 9.25 x 12.25 overall dimensions. Fine condition. RRAucton COA.
