Pope, born Eugenio Maria Giuseppe Giovanni Pacello (1876–1958), who reigned from 1939 until his death. Maintaining strict neutrality during WWI, he advanced several peace proposals, did much to aid war victims, and, following the war, maintained a staunch anti-Communist stand. DS, in Italian, signed “Pius p.p. XII,” one page, 11.5 x 15.5, no date. A handsome apostolic blessing for Attilio De Rossi featuring an ornate illuminated calligraphic inscription and an affixed photo of Pius.
