Description

Max Planck

Nobel Prize–winning German physicist (1858–1947) who pioneered the understanding of quantum theory. ALS in German, signed “Planck,” on the reverse of a 5.5 x 3.5 picture postcard, September 2, 1941. Planck writes to Arthur Neuberg in Dresden, saying that he (Planck) is away on a holiday tour of the “peaceful mountains” in the Alps and will be away from Berlin until the end of September. Planck, an avid mountaineer, wrote the foreword to Neuberg’s 1939 book The New World Picture of Physics. Punch hole touching two words of text, and mild soiling, otherwise fine condition.
