Drugstore solider: Signed document from the Civil War veteran–turned–pharmaceutical tycoon

American military and entrepreneur (1839–1898) who led at Chickamauga and elsewhere and was captured by Nathan Bedford Forrest in 1864. Following the war, he resumed his trade as a druggist and founded the still-extant Eli Lilly Company, which became one of the largest pharmaceutical concerns in the world. DS, one page, 8.5 x 13.5, March 27, 1893. A lease agreement between the Commercial Club in Indianapolis and the Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Chicago & St. Louis Railway.
