Description

Partly printed DS as president, one page on vellum, 10 x 14, December 1, 1820. A scalloped-top ship’s papers for the vessel Evergreen of New York, commanded by John Rathbone. Countersigned by John Quincy Adams as secretary of state. The embossed paper seal remains intact at lower left. Matted and framed with two period portrait engravings to an overall size of 30.5 x 21.5. In good to very good condition, with intersecting folds (vertical folds to both signatures), wrinkles, soiling, trimming to edges, and Adams’ signature a shade light but fully legible. Monroe’s signatures is dark and clear. Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA. Oversized.
