Description

American admiral (1837–1917) best known for his fabled victory at the Battle of Manila Bay during the Spanish-American War. ALS, two pages on two adjoining sheets, 4.75 x 8, Breakers Hotel letterhead, March 16, 1902. Dewey writes to Mr. Crawford. In part: “I have $2500 for investment—or you know —anything gilt edge—do not care for anymore stock…. We are enjoying beautiful weather…. Mrs. Dewey continues to gain and is better than she has been….” Spot of skinning below signature and vertical mailing folds (just touching last name; short edge separations touching a few words of text), otherwise fine condition.
