Member of the comedy team the Three Stooges, brother of Moe and Curly. He was the older brother of Moe Howard and third stooge in the early years of the act. He would rejoin the trio again in 1946, after youngest brother Curly Howard suffered a stroke. Vintage glossy 6.75 x 8.5 photo of Stooges founder Ted Healy, someone (possibly Healy) has written “Ted Healy” in the upper left corner. Shemp has affectionately written “Funniest Man in the ‘world’ I know. Shemp Howard,” in fountain pen. Photo is affixed to a larger board and matted to an overall size of 11 x 14. In very good condition, with lightly trimmed edges with most of the “d” in “Howard” missing, scattered creases to image and some light edge toning. A unique signed photo with unusual association!
