Amazing collection of seven airmail covers, 6.5 x 3.75, each signed in ink and each bearing an affixed Life magazine photo of the respective astronaut. Included: Virgil I. Grissom, Leroy G. Cooper, M. Scott Carpenter, Alan B. Shepard, Jr., Donald K. Slayton, Walter M. Schirra, and John H. Glenn, Jr. All envelopes but Glenn’s are postmarked from Langley Air Force Base on January 28, 1960, are addressed in type to a gentleman in Massachusetts, and bear “Project Mercury” and “Astronaut” ink stamps (Glenn’s also bearing an affixed address label).
