Signed in ballpoint on the front free end page by all seven Mercury astronauts: Leroy G. Cooper, John H. Glenn, Jr., Walter M. Schirra, Alan B. Shepard, Jr., Donald K. Slayton, M. Scott Carpenter, and Virgil I. Grissom, who has added an inscription to the top of the page. A collector’s notation to the top of page reads “June, 1961,” just a month after Shepard became the first American in space. The book has also been signed by the author, Martin Caiden. In very good condition, with some light wear to dustjacket and a moderate vertical block of staining to the signed page, affecting the page’s appearance but not the quality and boldness of the signatures.
