In full: “I am at present on my back and somewhat uncertain when I can be out; but as soon as I am able to get about I shall have pleasure in sending you word when and where we can meet.” In the same year, while in his post in the Philippines, Taft nearly died from dengue fever, which may well be the ailment he alludes to in the first sentence.
