Assisting a recruiting effort as colonel

LS signed “Z. Taylor, Lt. Col., 1st Regt. U.S. Infy., Comdg,” one page, 8 x 9.75, April 25, 1834. Letter to Colonel R. Jones. In full, “Herewith is returned agreeably to your directions the application of Cat. MacKee for the Recruiting Service. He has been placed on that duty at St. Louis, Mo. with orders to open a Rendezvous & recruit for the 1st Regiment of Infantry.” Light toning along two horizontal mailing folds and moderate show-through from docketing on reverse, otherwise fine condition.
